Denim Pocket

Sustainability Project

A digital portfolio of some of the work I have produced during my sustainability project.

During my first year, I was set a task to complete a project on sustainability. The design brief was to create a jacket/kimono/cape from jeans that have been donated to the charity 'Loros' and then send it back to the charity so they could sell the upcycled garment. This limited me in terms of design however as a designer it forced you to think a different way as you do not have unlimited resources and you cant access exactly what you would like in order to design freely.
The same upcycling concept was applied to the shoe making criteria, and we had to create a high top/ converse shoe out of denim jeans.
Further experimentation through sampling with denim in textiles and conversation about greenwashing and how fast fashion affect the world is something I have been researching and looking at within my other modules.
Below I have shared my different experimentation methods and production processes for my garment and shoe.
